Our new £6 million Sports Centre has opened its doors at The Grange School in Hartford. The Grange Sports Centre will provide students with outstanding facilities for their sporting education as well as providing the local community with a new sporting and fitness hub to use.

Providing an Educational Opportunity to Rival Any

The Grange School has always prided itself on its sporting achievements as one of Cheshire's top independent schools. Recent Alumni include Wigan and England youth international Jensen Weir as well as Team GB rowers Tom and Emily Ford. There are numerous current students representing their countries at youth level across football, netball and hockey.

However, the school felt that some of the sporting facilities weren’t doing justice to their young athletes and so after years of planning and work the new £6 million Sports Centre is something everyone associated with the school can be proud of. It is hoped that, alongside their expert staff coaching, it will allow students to develop their sporting talents and reach their potential.

The Grange Head, Debbie Leonard says, “this is a landmark moment in the school’s history. Sport plays an important part in Grange life through our curriculum and the enrichment opportunities we provide. The feedback we’ve had from students and current parents has already been extremely positive. At The Grange, we are always developing and improving the provision for our young people who will only benefit from having such impressive facilities to use.”

Facilities Fit for 2019

The Grange Sports Centre has been built to provide students and the community with a vast array of sport and fitness opportunities. The pinnacle of the building is the large, breath-taking, multi-purpose Sports Hall. It can be used as a premier netball court, four cricket lanes, four badminton courts, indoor hockey and football pitches as well as a full-size basketball court.

You cannot help but notice the impressive climbing wall also in the hall and with overhangs as well, it will definitely test ambitious climbers. With a viewing gallery on the second floor, it also provides parents with the chance to cheer on their children in matches.

For those looking to improve their fitness, there is a Gym with the latest equipment including multi-gym systems, strength machines, exercise bikes, rowing trainers and treadmills. A spacious Dance Studio can accommodate all types of dance, from ballet to street. It will also be able to hold exercise classes for those who prefer to get active this way.

The new Sports Centre adds to The Grange’s other outdoor facilities; a Floodlit Multi Use Games Area and All Weather Pitch as well as our Sports Pavilion with full-size rugby and football pitches. With four changing rooms and catering facilities, local clubs, professional teams or those looking for a fun children’s birthday party will also be able to hire the Sports Centre.

Plans for the public to use

Students have started using the Sports Centre this term and the school will also open up the Sports Centre to the local community of Hartford, Northwich and the surrounding area to use, preparing it over the summer holidays. There will be a grand opening in September and members of the public will then be able to use the facilities outside of school-time.
