Junior School Life

From the moment the children arrive at the school, they will be greeted by one of our many members of staff.

Whether it’s an early morning arrival at our Earlybirds wraparound care service (from 7.30am), stepping off one of the many buses we provide from home to school or walking with mum and dad into their classroom, there will always be someone to meet and look after them.

With a thriving assembly programme to set the tone for each day and celebrate the array of individual and group achievements, the children are engaged in their learning from the moment they arrive.

A vast and varied curriculum

With Form Teachers who primarily focus on developing outstanding learning in literacy and numeracy, the children experience an ever-increasing number of subject specialist teachers as they move through the school. They will lead their learning in music, art, science, computing, design, languages, humanities and sports, with the opportunity to learn in modern, thoughtfully designed classrooms as well as specialist facilities that would rival many secondary schools.

No two days are the same reflecting the bustling, varied and stimulating programme of activities that we provide to support their learning including regular visitors, trips, fixtures and events throughout the year. Outdoor education is an integral part of our provision from Reception onwards with access to sand, mud and woodland play areas in the school grounds and with residential trips to the Lake District, North Wales, France and Spain in the older year groups.

Exploring and Playing

Whilst learning is at the heart of what we do, we recognise that playing and relaxing are also essential. With regular breaks throughout the day, all our children have access to well-furnished outdoor play areas, with support from a whole team of staff to supervise and engage them in constructive play. With extensive in-house catering and dining facilities, we ensure that the children eat heartily and healthily, keeping their energy levels high. We also offer a whole array of optional lunchtime activities to engage their individual interests whether it’s chess, textiles, gardening, computing, singing, hockey to name but a few.

At the end of each day, the children leave us tired yet happy and fulfilled. Whilst plenty head home to unwind, many others stay on to take advantage of the additional after-school sports clubs that we offer or enjoy the opportunities provided within our Sundowners wraparound care service (until 6.00pm).
