Charity

It has been a busy term for our charity and community teams, with lots of fundraising and support for the local community.

Mrs Farrell and the Charity & Community Captains, Evie Tipping, Arianne Crosby, Holly Radford & Ellie Froggatt held a raft of assemblies to raise awareness about the charities each year group is going to raise money for. Students will work with their Head of Year, form tutor, fellow students and link captain to come up with a range of fundraising opportunities to support each cause. They also have a community project to work on with a range of social groups or organisations. Their efforts will also be recognised as part of their Grange Award and will go towards the volunteering section of their Duke of Edinburgh award. Parents and guardians will be able to donate to their students’ events on Parent Pay and communication will be sent in due course.

Charities chosen by year groups:
• Year 7 are supporting St Luke’s Hospice and doing community litter picks.
• Year 8 are supporting Young Minds and residents from a local care home by sending messages of goodwill, poetry and artwork.
• Year 9 are supporting Cheshire Search & Rescue.
• Year 10 are supporting the Joshua Tree.
• Year 11 are supporting Cancer Research/ Breast Cancer UK and Mid Cheshire Food Bank.
• Year 12 & 13 are supporting Project Gambia, Motor Neurones & Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.

Harvest Festival

The Grange Junior and Senior schools came together to try and achieve the biggest and most successful collection for the Mid-Cheshire foodbank, as part of Harvest Festival. The school’s community and charity activities saw students, from all year groups donating an astonishing amount.

The fire service came into school to take away our vast donations of food and healthcare products, dropping them off at the food bank. In total, a staggering 1.583 tonnes were donated. A big thanks to all those families who contributed. Mid Cheshire Foodbank said ‘A huge thank you to the Grange School community for your generous support from all of us at the foodbank. Wow!’

Children in Need

Well done to all our children and staff at the Junior School for their Children In Need efforts. Activities included an 87km cycle (the Junior School is 87 years old); that target was smashed as staff ended up cycling over 100 miles! There were also cake sales and Y3 playing ‘Pudsey-style’ Beetle Drive. Over £1,600 was raised, thank you so much, everyone.

Supporting Young and Old

Year 8 supported the community through Christmas activities. Miss Swift’s form has been creating cards, as you can see from the photos, which they are posting out to residents of local care homes to spread some festive kindness and cheer. 8CXW & 8FH have been doing charity raffles to raise money and awareness for Young Minds, an organisation supporting young people with mental health. Students chose this charity as they felt they could relate to having been through the lockdown periods this year.
