Music and Drama Performances

The Junior School has finished showcasing a super week of pop-up musical performances, from staff and children of all ages.

Featuring  12 class concerts, 11 musical assemblies, over 60 students and numerous performances from teachers, teaching assistants and peripatetic music teachers, the school was alive with talent.

Highlights of the week have included Year 5’s Seth playing the guitar on his head, headteacher Mr Rands singing to students as they arrived for lunch, and George from Year 6’s perfect toss and catch of his drum stick in the middle of a loud cymbal-crashing end to his piece!

Students from the whole school have been involved, with performances from those in Year 1 all the way up to Year 6. The variety of instruments and musical genres performed were something to marvel; everything from Mozart to musical theatre, rock to reggae and blues to baroque.

Reception and Year 1 enjoyed violin demonstrations and Year 2 clapped along to ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’ in assembly. Years 3 and 4 air-drummed along to an unbelievably quick percussion performance featuring more instruments than they could count. Whilst Years 5 and 6 were welcomed into their assemblies with delightful piano music and all before Year 4 finished the week with an exciting karaoke session!

Pop-Up Performance week provides Grange children with the chance to feel inspired to make the most of the many musical opportunities on offer at school. Well done to all those who took part and to Mrs Hunter for co-ordinating the week.
