In the muddiest conditions ever witnessed, children from Years 4-6 tackled the 1.5km ISA Cross Country course with a variety of strong performances from Grange athletes including three who qualified for the regional round of this national competition.
The Year 4 girls started proceedings with Sofia Rivanna-Nino finishing highest in 13th. Daisy Caldwell, Evie Grace Eglin and Saanvi Sathish finished in the top 40. Our first top three finish occurred in the Year 4 boy’s race where Hugo Ffoulkes-Davies secured 2nd place. Other high finishers were Billy Holland in 17th, Leo Evans in 18th and George Murray in 36th.
Next, the Year 5 girls ran. The top two finishers here were Sophie Curbishley in 28th and Izzy Ryves in 45th. In the Year 5 boy’s race, George Croft completed the course in 3rd with Dylan Potts finishing just outside National qualification in 12th.
The penultimate race had to be run twice so the worn out Year 6 girls ran 3k!
The final race was run by the Year 6 boys. Elliott Llewelyn kept his run of national qualification going with a fourth place finish. Max Livsey-Daniels ended with a top 20 finish completing the course in 19th.
“With over 100 boys and girls competing in each race, we teachers are extremely proud of each and every runner. Well done to everyone who tried their best and special congratulations go to Hugo, George and Elliott who all qualified to represent the North at Rugby School in the National competition,” said Mr Evans.
